Extreme Makeover: Home Edition opportunity

My name is Lindsay Spaulding, and I’m a Casting Producer for ABC’s Emmy award winning TV series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." We are in the process of finding families who are deserving and in need of a new home for our next season of the show, and we want to move that bus to BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA.

If you could help forward this to all the principals of the schools in your district, and ask that they make announcements in the schools, include the information in their newsletters, as well as forward it on to any community contacts they have, that would be AMAZING! The sooner we find a family from Broward County , the sooner we can MOVE THAT BUS!

We ' re looking for inspirational members of the communitywho, for whatever reason, need a new home. While we know that there are so many families in need all over this country, we want to focus on people that have given back in some way despite their personal hardships. Some examples from past episodes include The Bliven family of Minot , ND who started a little league baseball program for children with special needs. And in Indiana , Shawna Farina heads up the local Relay For Life cancer walk for life in honor of her mother ' s struggle with the disease and, in an ironic twist of fate, now battles breast cancer herself. Some of our episodes have focused on people who have been inspirational within their own family. Amy Hawkins of Hendersonville , TN was left paralyzed after she threw her body over her 2 sons as a tornado ripped apart their home. As you can see, our definition of deserving can be fairly broad.

Interested families or those who wish to nominate another family should:

e-mail a short description of their family story to –CastingExtremeMiami@gmail.com

Nominations/submissions must include:

1. The names and ages of each member of the household

2. A description of the major challenges within the home.

3. Explanation of why this family is deserving, or a positive role model in their community.

4. Photos of the family and a photo of the home

5. Don’t forget to include a contact phone number.

The deadline: for nominations is February 20, 2010. BUT Don’t Delay!

Please send story submissions as soon as possible!

For more information on how to apply please visit our website at:

http://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome/index?pn=apply

To be eligible, a family must own their own single family home or at least property on which a home can be built. Plus, they must be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives. Nominations must include the names and ages of each member of the household along with a description of the major challenges within the home. Please also include contact information of the family. If possible, we would also love to see pictures of the family and their home.

The deadline for family nominations is January 31, 2010. But, the sooner we find some deserving families, the better!

Thanks again! And please feel free to contact me directly with any questions.

Neighborhood Meeting

The next meeting of the Croissant Park Civic Association will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. We meet in the Community Center (245 W. Park Drive) on the south side of the school. There will be 15-20 minutes of social time with refreshments prior to the start of the meeting. The new board is looking forward to hearing what residents feel is important to our neighborhood in 2010. They would like to get your input and set some priorities for the new year. So, come on over and be heard - or just sit back and listen. This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, find out what is going on and contribute your own ideas.
