Reminder - Biz Night - RAFFLE PRIZES - Oh yeah!

We are really on a roll now with response to our “Biz“ night in the hood. We have a number of presenters, several of whom will be bringing coupons for discounts and offering raffle items. Car need an oil change? Do you need a massage? Want to know what the stars hold in store for you? Need a nice dinner out? A basket of makeup products? Well, you just might win exactly what you need. At only a dollar each – the raffle tickets might just afford you a spiffed up car to take your honey out for dinner (after you have determined when the stars will be best aligned for such an outing) after she (he) has had a massage (Oh- and did I mention that we also have a facial as a prize? -a $125 value), and dolled up with some new makeup. Certainly worth coming to the meeting to check out the services offered by your neighbors- and the chance to win some great prizes?

And don't forget- cake- cookies- something for everyone- See you this coming Tuesday -March 30th

Biz Night - Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Please come to our Neighborhood Meeting Tuesday March 30th ( a week from today) and check out "Biz Night". Do you have a small business that you'd like to tell your neighbors about? I know I could use some new clients and I'm sure a lot of other people could as well - and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is always on the lookout for a reliable _______________ (fill in the blank - handy man, painter, plumber, electrician, gardener, dog sitter (or baby sitter- in my case - really the same thing) lawyer, doctor, dentist, car repair person- you name it - and I can almost guarantee we have someone in the neighborhood who can provide the skill you are looking for. Give us a try - it will only work if businesses participate - and YOU participate as well. It is $10 to present your business.

7:00 pm at the Community Center - south side of the school, next to the pools

As an added incentive - we have some really great raffle gifts from local businesses- Thai food anyone? Pizza? a manicure? fruit basket? Come to the meeting and check it out.
Thanks,
Patricia Rathburn, CPCA President

As an update to the incident reported by one of our residents this afternoon, Capt. Snyder Park Break In

Hi All,

You may have been really happy about day light saving time as my wife and I were. The extra light meant we could go bicycle riding in Snyder Park again. We went for the first time yesterday and we were excited about going again tonight. We get there from 6pm - 7pm and go around the park's outside road for 7 laps which takes us about 5 minutes a lap.

Well, tonight we got a big shock, on lap 4, we passed my truck. We park on the west side of the dog lake and noticed glass all over the road. So within the 5 minute lap, someone smashed my driver side window. I had nothing in the truck, except my pubix recycle bag, which might have made the robber think something was in my back seat. It was bummer. The park was totally empty except one speeding car and single male walking around.

Funny thing, on lap 2, a Fort Lauderdale police cruiser past us and waived to us. We called the police after the incident and the police and park ranger came quickly. They took a report and that's all they could do. The could not find the car or the walking male.

Just a warning, we are living in desperate times, unemployment is over 10% in Florida and people could be looking for any means to get income. So keep your eyes open and protect your valuables if you can.

Has this happened to you? Was it recent?
Many Blessings,
John

Pit Bull Attack

Tuesday, March 2, 2010
A neighbor reported being attacked by a female, grey & white Pit Bull dog while she was walking her dog on a leash. The Pit Bull bit the woman's dog and knocked her to the ground. Some men came to her assistance and pulled the dog away. She called the police and was told to call animal control - they were closed.

A man on a bike came by and said he knew who the dog belonged to, it had been loose for 3-4 days and asked her not to call the police. He put his belt around the dog's neck to take him to his home around 21 St & 3rd Terrace (sounds way too close to the tot-lot at Peney Park).

This woman was deservedly upset by this attack and wants her neighbors to be aware of this aggressive animal that apparently does not have responsible owners.

There are certainly some sweet Pit Bulls in this world - at least that is what we keep hearing from their owners - this is not one of them. Be on the lookout and don't hesitate to call the Police or animal control if you see it on the loose again. Better to keep calling to report than wait for the animal to hurt someone else.
